Treasure Coast Pirate Fest
Mischief and Mayhem in Martin County
September 10 - 12, 2010
Friday 7-11pm, Saturday & Sunday 10 am to 8 pm
STUART, FL— The Third Annual Treasure Coast Pirate Fest is sailing in to Historic Downtown Stuart on September 10 - 12, 2010. The weekend’s events will kick off on Friday night with piratical merriment at a location to be announced. At 10 am on Saturday, the streets will be loaded with art, craft and food vendors aplenty! The family treasure hunt begins at 10 am on Saturday as well, and families will compete for the grand prize treasure chest loaded with booty donated by the downtown businesses! Families will be sent plundering throughout the Historic Downtown Stuart shops searching for various trinkets and treasure. The treasure hunt grand prize winner will be announced on Sunday.
Hundreds of pirates will be in attendance and period correct, interactive street performers will be roving the streets all weekend long. (Aaarrrrgggghhhh!, beware the difference!)
Live performances start at 11am on Saturday on three main stages and will continue throughout the weekend. Several other shows will include A Black Powder Demonstration, fight circles and other random acts of piracy.
Visitors are encouraged to attend in costume! Whether ye be dressed as your favorite Hollywood Buccaneer, Mardi-Gras pirate, or a Historic Swashbuckler from the golden age of piracy, all pirates are welcomed! Two costume contests (Adults & Childrens) will take place over the weekend, with six winners receiving prizes. Avast me hearties! Although participants are requested to dress like a pirate, it is not a requirement. Whether you come in costume or not, you will experience what it’s like to be a pirate! Grandparents’ Day is Sunday, September 12th, so why not bring them to Historic Downtown Stuart for a “Blast from the Past”!
Admission to the event is FREE, with a portion of the proceeds benefiting Stuart Heritage, Inc., a 501c3 not-for-profit Florida Corporation which has the mission of providing facts on local history through the artifacts displayed in the Museum. Stuart Heritage also serves as the driving force for historic preservation throughout Martin County.
Treasure Coast Pirate Fest is proudly produced by the Downtown Business Association of Stuart, and sponsored in part by The City of Stuart CRA, Pirates of the Treasure Coast, Scripps Treasure Coast News Papers, TCPALM.com, The Breeze 93.7, 107.9 WIRK, Sunny 104.3, 99.7 JACK fm, BUZZ 103.1, Pirates Magazine and Pirate Soup Radio.
